We, Kato trade Inc., have sold DARK SHINY in Japanese market for more than 10 years.
Number of its designs
Kato trade’s strategy goes beyond just selling products designed by the manufacturer in the Japanese market. We have taken up the needs of the market and actively fed back to the manufacturer to support the product development that the market requires.
More than 300 designs have been created together with the manufacturer. It boasts the highest-grade number of Japanese underwear brands.
There are mainly two sales channels
-We are wholesaling it to stores, mainly underwear specialty stores in Japan.
We utilize our sales channels to sell the brand based on our transactions with many wholesalers and retailers all over Japan. Due to our transaction results, we were able to expand the sales channels of the unknown brand to famous wholesalers and retailers like Don Quixote, Tokyu Hands, Yodobashi Camera, department stores and so on.
Transactions with each store are long and we have built good relationships. It is a very important network for us, as we can hear the various needs of the market and also the trends of our competitors.
-The other is retailing based on EC sites.
We have developed our own sales network for retailing. In addition to our own official online store, we have our own accounts on various major EC sites in the Japanese market like Amazon Japan, Yahoo Japan, Rakuten Japan and so on. Web marketing know-how is one of our strengths. Our representative has been engaged in the web marketing industry since 2003, so he is still deeply involved with the industry and is in a position to catch trends quickly.
DARK SHINY has already been recognized as a D2C (Direct to Consumer) brand in Japan, and enabling a marketing strategy with OMO (Online Merges with Offline) without distinction between online and offline sales channels.
In recent years, we have especially focused on planning and selling collaborative works with Japanese creators and Anime. It is expected as one of the important sales strategies of the brand.
We believe that this project will not only increase sales due to its topicality, but also serve as an opportunity to let more customers know about the brand and help improve the brand image. Although there are many cases in which various creators and Animes create and sell original goods, there are not many examples of collaboration with underwear brands, and the collaboration sides evaluate this project as a unique attempt. We are currently selling multiple collaboration products, but we plan to increase the number of collaborations works in the future, too.
Thus, Kato trade has a system that allows us to produce better products by marketing that is backed by a track record to determine the value required by the market and actively feed it back to the manufacturer.
